
Pre-dawn gunfire on Indianapolis' northeast side left one person fighting for life earlier today, while several others spent the morning in handcuffs as detectives worked to piece together what happened.
IMPD officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to a report of a person shot in the 4100 block of Edgemere Court. At least four people were detained a short distance away near North Keystone Avenue and 38th Street while detectives processed evidence at both locations, according to WTHR.
Police Ask for Tips
Detectives are asking anyone who saw or recorded anything to come forward. Tips can be shared with Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477), or anonymously through the P3Tips app. IMPD specifically requested any video or eyewitness accounts that might help move the investigation forward.
This Block Has a History of Violence
The 4100 block of Edgemere Court has seen this kind of police presence before. The area has been the site of previous shootings and repeated calls for service, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on the northeast side. Earlier coverage by WISH-TV has documented violent incidents in the same block, and residents say heavy police activity there is sadly familiar.
IMPD has not released the name of the person who was critically injured or the identities of those detained. No charges had been announced as of Saturday morning. This story will be updated as officials release additional information.
