Two people were shot Thursday night on Indianapolis' southwest side, and both were taken to area hospitals, police said. Officers responding to a report of gunfire found the victims in the 5800 block of Coppock Drive, a residential stretch near South High School Road and Furnas Road.
According to WTHR, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the block on Thursday and opened an active investigation into the double shooting. Authorities did not immediately release the victims' ages or identities, and detectives remained on scene Thursday night working to determine what led up to the gunfire.
Police told WTHR that both victims were reported to be in stable condition, even as investigators pressed for more details and urged anyone with information to contact authorities to help piece together the timeline and identify any potential suspects.
