A 21-year-old Noblesville man is facing felony charges after a University of Indianapolis student reported that she was drugged at a downtown bar and later assaulted in her campus dorm room, according to court documents. The alleged assault traces back to the night of last Monday and the early hours of Tuesday, based on filings reviewed by police. The man is identified in those records as Marwan Khalaf.
According to WTHR, the student told detectives she took an Uber to bars downtown last Monday, was drugged, and later woke up in her dorm room vomiting and disoriented. University of Indianapolis police responded to a report of a possible overdose on Jan. 24 and, according to the court paperwork, found the student having trouble standing with "a large amount of vomit" in her room.
Documents reviewed by reporters allege that Khalaf "repeatedly raped the victim while she was vomiting and going in and out of consciousness." Those same filings state that he is now charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual battery. According to the court papers, Khalaf told detectives he denied having sex with the student, saying instead that the two kissed and that he took her back to her dorm.
Campus response and survivor resources
The University of Indianapolis maintains campus-safety infrastructure and Title IX resources for students and visitors, and the school’s website outlines how students can reach on-campus support and file complaints. Per the University of Indianapolis, students can access both confidential services and formal reporting options through campus departments and counseling services.
National organizations such as RAINN also provide 24/7 support, including a hotline at 1-800-656-4673, for survivors seeking immediate help.
Legal next steps
The charges arise from the criminal complaint and related court filings, and prosecutors will determine how the case proceeds in Hamilton County courts. Court calendars and booking details were not immediately available in public records at the time of reporting, and officials had not released a timetable for arraignment or pretrial hearings.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the University of Indianapolis Police Department or Hamilton County authorities. Local court and law enforcement websites list contact information and public-records guidance for those seeking updates on filings or scheduled proceedings.
