Strongsville’s Whitney Road is about to get a caffeine jolt. Double Shot, a drive-thru coffee concept, is moving ahead with plans for a new location just east of Pearl Road, with a compact stand-alone building planned on a large vacant parcel near a Sheetz and a Discount Drug Mart. Construction is targeted to begin in May, with the owner eyeing a Labor Day debut for coffee-craving commuters.
According to Cleveland.com, the shop would take up a portion of an 8.75-acre parcel on the north side of Whitney Road, set behind the Sheetz station and just west of Discount Drug Mart. Plans call for a drive-thru window only, with no indoor seating included in the layout, the outlet reported.
Operator has a Stow drive-thru
Double Shot is not new to the quick-service coffee scene. The brand already runs a drive-thru in Stow, where its directory page lists a location at 1580 Norton Road, signaling that the concept is already established in the region. For more details, check the Stow listing.
Menu and timing
Owner Jordan Alpern, who operates Double Shot through J.A.S. Coffee LLC and launched the first Stow location in 2023, told Cleveland.com that the Strongsville spot will pour espresso-based coffees and teas, along with freshly squeezed lemonade. The menu is also set to include breakfast sandwiches, bakery items and burritos, giving morning regulars a few grab-and-go options. Alpern said he hopes to break ground in May and open around Labor Day.
What it means for the corridor
The new drive-thru adds to a growing lineup of small food and coffee projects popping up along Strongsville’s busy commercial stretches, a sign that grab-and-go is becoming part of the local routine. That pattern surfaced recently when Strongsville Greenlights Zest highlighted a site-plan approval for a pastry and coffee spot on West 130th Street.
City permits and final site approvals will ultimately set the construction schedule and determine whether the plan needs any fine-tuning. Public filings will tell the story from here, and any changes to dates or designs will be reflected as they move forward.
