
An 18-year-old woman was clinging to life Sunday after being shot in the neck during an argument inside a home on Chicago's Southwest Side, according to police. The shooting unfolded Saturday evening in the Archer Heights neighborhood, and despite the wound, the victim walked herself to a nearby hospital before being transferred for more intensive treatment.
Victim Walks Into Hospital After Being Shot
Chicago police say the gunfire erupted inside a home on the 5100 block of South Kostner Avenue during an argument with a man. Officers were called to Christ Hospital after the woman showed up around 8:20 p.m., according to FOX 32 Chicago. She was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Recent Violence Has Archer Heights On Edge
The shooting comes on the heels of other recent gunfire in Archer Heights, including a March 27 attack that left two 19-year-olds wounded, part of a stretch of violence that residents say has worn down families and local businesses, as detailed in a pair of attacks. Detectives Recover Gun, Probe Continues
Police recovered a firearm at the scene, and Area Three detectives are leading the investigation, according to FOX 32 Chicago. Investigators are expected to canvass the block and review any available video as they work to determine who pulled the trigger and what exactly sparked the argument that ended in gunfire.
