Indianapolis police say a near-north side drug investigation that began earlier this year culminated Wednesday with a major raid on a home along Capitol Avenue near 38th Street, ending in 18 arrests and the seizure of multiple drugs, paraphernalia and two firearms.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department credited fed-up neighbors for getting the ball rolling. The arrests were “the direct result of community members coming forward and providing information to our officers,” the department said in a statement, according to WISH-TV. Investigators added that the underlying probe remains active even after this week’s search warrant and sweep.
Part of a Broader North-Side Crackdown
Wednesday’s bust is the latest in a string of north-side enforcement pushes focused on illegal guns and narcotics. In February, a search of another address in the same area turned up 47 firearms along with large quantities of suspected narcotics, highlighting how district-level teams are coordinating these operations.
Public booking records cited by WISH-TV list several of those arrested in the latest sweep. They include April Daniels (possession of paraphernalia; visiting a common nuisance), Keia Dunson (unlawful possession of a syringe; visiting a common nuisance), William Brown (visiting a common nuisance; possession of a controlled substance) and Ramone Cork (possession and dealing in cocaine; maintaining a common nuisance). The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the cases and make final charging decisions as evidence is processed.
