Police have charged a second Indianapolis man in the March killing of real-estate investor and international poker player James Matthew “Matt” Lushin, and detectives say the case centers on money, drugs and a year-long conflict that finally boiled over.
Second Indianapolis Man Charged
According to WISH-TV, officers arrested 31-year-old Justin A. Jones on Indianapolis’s east side. A Hamilton Superior Court 5 warrant names him on counts that include murder, conspiracy to commit murder, armed robbery, theft in the $750 to $50,000 range and a misdemeanor charge of dealing in marijuana. Jones’s arrest is part of an ongoing probe that has already produced one earlier suspect and multiple search warrants as investigators work to map out who did what and when.
Evidence and Alleged Money Trail
Court filings and investigative summaries describe a money trail and packaged marijuana that prosecutors say connect the suspects to Lushin. Detectives report tracing roughly 16 Cash App transfers totaling about $17,900 from one man to Lushin between January 2025 and March 5. A search warrant return lists about $15,590 in cash recovered from Lushin’s master bedroom and nearly 11 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana found in a safe on the property, according to ReadWrite.
Earlier Arrest in the Case
Authorities had already taken one suspect into custody before Jones. Police arrested Indianapolis resident Ronald Dewayne Brown Jr. on March 27, and prosecutors filed a murder charge against him at the end of March, local coverage shows.
