Schneider Deli, the cult-favorite River North counter known for towering sandwiches and unapologetically sharp pickles, has officially gone bigger. The husband-and-wife operation opened a second Chicago location in Lincoln Park on Wednesday, April 1, aiming to turn its new space into an all-day neighborhood hangout, from early bagels to laid-back evening gatherings.
The new outpost sits at 1733 N Halsted and clocks in at about 1,750 square feet with seats for more than 40, giving the team significantly more breathing room, as reported by Time Out. That larger footprint effectively doubles the capacity of the original River North counter and opens the door to longer service windows.
From Motel Counter To All-Day Neighborhood Deli
The deli is run by husband-and-wife team Jake and Ariel Schneider, who first built a following with pop-up pickles and house-cured meats, according to Schneider Deli. Their first brick-and-mortar shop opened inside the Ohio House Motel in River North in 2023, where the pair quickly drew a devoted crowd, per Eater Chicago.
The Lincoln Park location builds on that motel-counter success, but with a lot more room to stretch out. The idea is simple enough: keep the heart of the original deli, then turn it into a spot where neighbors can drop in morning, noon or early evening without feeling rushed.
Menu Staples, New Collabs And Grab-And-Go Comforts
Fans of the River North shop will recognize the greatest hits. The Lincoln Park menu keeps Schneider’s house-cured fish, latkes, and stacked bagel sandwiches firmly in place. On top of that, the larger space lets the team roll out new items, including the Hot Reuben, a collaboration with Caruso Provisions, plus a grab-and-go case stocked with knishes, kugel, and kasha varnishkas, according to Chicago Food Magazine.
The bigger kitchen also makes room for heat-and-eat family entrees and prepared foods sold by the pound, giving regulars the option to take a full deli spread home instead of just a single sandwich.
Coffee, Cocktails, And A Spot To Linger
One of the most noticeable upgrades at the Lincoln Park shop is a full coffee and espresso bar developed with Metropolis Coffee, according to WTTW. The team also plans to bring beers, wines, and canned cocktails into the mix for evening service.
Inside, family photos, pink tiles, and retro details are designed to make the place feel like a true third space for the neighborhood, a spot where people can work, meet up, and hang out without watching the clock.
Schneider Deli Lincoln Park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is taking walk-ins for counter service, with to-go orders available online, as reported by Time Out. For current menus, private-event inquiries, and real-time updates on extended evening service, visit Schneider Deli.
