
A quiet Garfield Park block turned into a crime scene Tuesday evening after two people were found shot to death inside a neighborhood home, according to police. A 51-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were discovered unresponsive and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting was reported around 5:50 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Arthington Street near South St. Louis Avenue. Officers responding to the call recovered a firearm inside the home, according to NBC Chicago. Area Four detectives are leading the investigation as evidence technicians continue to process the scene. Officials have not released the victims’ names while detectives gather more information.
WGN reported that the woman suffered three gunshot wounds to the chest, while the younger man was struck once in the head. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not publicly identified a possible motive.
