A quiet stretch of Porter Street turned into a crime scene yesterday when Vallejo police found a woman shot outside a home on the 900 block, authorities said. Officers arrived in the pre-dawn hours, and paramedics tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspect has been publicly identified and the homicide investigation remains very much active.
Police Response And Scene
According to KTVU, officers were dispatched at about 1:37 AM for a disturbance call on the 900 block of Porter Street. When they arrived, they found the woman outside the residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not released a possible motive and say no arrests have been made.
Detectives And Outreach Teams Activated
The Vallejo Police Department’s Detective Division has taken over the case, and the department activated its Neighborhood Impact Team to support the response, per the Vallejo Police Department's Facebook post. The post states that IHART is providing trauma-informed outreach and resource connections for affected residents and businesses, and notes that officers on scene provided immediate medical aid before paramedics arrived. The victim’s identity is being withheld until the Solano County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office can notify next of kin.
Where This Fits In Recent Vallejo Cases
This killing is Vallejo’s second homicide of 2026. In mid-March, investigators handled a separate case after a man’s body was found near the railroad tracks behind the Vallejo Police Department. An autopsy later showed he had suffered at least one gunshot wound, according to CBS Bay Area. Authorities say they will release more information as both investigations move forward. Residents have expressed concern about public safety as detectives continue to work the scene.
