A late Friday night shooting on Indianapolis' near east side left a man dead after he was found with gunshot wounds in the 3600 block of Brookside Parkway South Drive, authorities said. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives say the scene remains an active investigation, and they have not released any information about potential suspects.
According to WTHR, officers were dispatched just after 10 p.m. Friday to the 3600 block of Brookside Parkway South near North Sherman Drive on a report of a person shot. The station reported that officers found an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds and that he was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

WRTV later reported that the man died at the hospital. Police described their initial response at the Brookside Parkway address as a welfare check. WRTV notes that IMPD has said the investigation is still active and that officials have not released a possible motive or identified any persons of interest.
