Feather & Tail, a cozy speakeasy-style cocktail room, quietly slipped open this week inside Burning Bush Brewery's River Room complex in North Center. The tight, date-night leaning spot pairs hand-crafted cocktails with a short list of bar snacks and a lineup of games, including digital steel-tip dart lanes and a custom shuffleboard table.
What to Expect
As reported by Block Club Chicago, the lounge is tucked behind a blue Chesterfield-style door framed by golden peacock wall sconces and was designed by Holiday Weekend Hospitality partners Brent Raska and Michael Decker. The owners said they set out to balance a refined cocktail lounge with a high-energy neighborhood bar, and Raska told the outlet the brewery has grown from a small crew to roughly 46 employees as the operation expanded. Feather & Tail is pitched as an intimate counterpart to the brewery's larger event space.
Where It Sits
Burning Bush Brewery lists its North Center taproom at 4014 N Rockwell and highlights a riverfront patio and family-friendly taproom. The adjoining River Room lists 4018 N Rockwell and markets itself as a customizable venue for weddings, private parties, and live events.
Games, Cocktails, and Snacks
The new room installs four steel-tip digitally automated dart lanes that triangulate throws and score automatically, a custom shuffleboard table, and a vintage CD jukebox with about 42 discs. The cocktail menu skews playful, with drinks like the Hall & Oats, Pink Foamy Club, White Russian Collins, and the Kenny G(inger) Collins. Feather & Tail also pours Burning Bush beers and offers wine along with low- or no-alcohol choices. Snacks include shrimp cocktail, in-house roasted seasoned nuts, and a crab dip charcuterie board. According to Block Club Chicago, the bar's posted hours are 5–11 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday, noon–midnight Friday–Saturday, and noon–10 p.m. Sunday, and the room is closed on Mondays.
Vibe and Events
The team says the room is aimed at date nights and can be rented as a supplement to the River Room for small private gatherings, while the brewery's calendar of trivia, game nights, and rotating food pop-ups keeps a steady flow of neighbors coming through. Burning Bush Brewery notes its taproom is dog- and family-friendly, and the River Room page includes contact information for booking private events.
Why It Matters Locally
Feather & Tail is the latest example of neighborhood breweries squeezing more curated food-and-drink offerings into industrial spaces along the river, giving residents new options for small-group nights without heading downtown. Local reporting first surfaced the opening and the menu details, while the brewery's site lists hours and events for neighbors planning a visit.
