A long-empty corner at Monument Circle is about to get busy again, with a new sandwich shop set to move into the street-level space at Salesforce Tower that has sat quiet since early 2024. The deal adds another quick-service option to the Circle’s ground-floor mix at a moment when downtown landlords are chasing tenants that reliably pull in daytime foot traffic.
According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, a sandwich operator has signed a lease for the former Yolk space in the tower’s street-level retail lineup. IBJ reports today noted that the agreement marks the latest change among the building’s street-facing tenants.
Leasing materials for Salesforce Tower pitch the base of the building as restaurant-ready and list Cushman & Wakefield as the broker for the street-level suites, emphasizing corner visibility on Monument Circle and Pennsylvania Street. A building brochure and online property listing show the tower actively marketing prime ground-floor space to quick-service and service-focused operators, a common amenity strategy for downtown office towers.
The unit opened up after Chicago-based Yolk closed its Salesforce Tower restaurant on May 24, 2024. As noted in earlier IBJ coverage, the breakfast-and-lunch spot occupied about 4,700 square feet at street level, making its vacancy one of the more noticeable gaps along Monument Circle’s retail frontage.
What This Means For Downtown Dining
The new lease signals that landlords still see room for grab-and-go counters and sit-down lunch spots in the immediate Monument Circle area. Nearby, Downtown Indy has tracked additions like Prox Salads on Salesforce Tower’s ground floor in 2023, suggesting food operators continue to bet on the downtown daytime workforce.
For now, the sandwich shop is keeping details close to the vest. The name, menu and opening date have not yet been made public. This story will be updated once the tenant posts an official opening notice or the leasing team releases more information.
