A quiet stretch of Indianapolis' northeast side turned into a crime scene Sunday when a man was shot and rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.
According to Fox59, officers were called to the 7900 block of Red Mill Drive near East 38th Street and North Franklin Road after a report of a person shot. IMPD told Fox59 they found the man with wounds consistent with gunshot injuries, and he was taken to a nearby hospital as medics worked to keep him alive.
Recent Violence On The Northeast Side
The incident is the latest in a string of shootings on the city's northeast side this spring. WRTV recently reported on a separate shooting in the 6500 block of East 42nd Street that also left a man in critical condition, highlighting multiple serious calls for IMPD in the area in just a matter of days.
Detectives Need Leads
IMPD said the investigation is ongoing and has asked anyone with information to contact detectives, as reported by Fox59. Those who want to stay anonymous can submit tips to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana through Crime Stoppers or by calling 317-262-TIPS.
Police have not released the victim's name or any additional details about what led up to the shooting. Detectives are asking nearby residents and businesses to check for surveillance video and to come forward with anything that might help piece together what happened.
