Police say a Friday afternoon dispute inside a northeast side Indianapolis apartment turned violent when an adult man was shot and rushed to a nearby hospital. Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 9000 block of East 39th Place, where they found the wounded man and detained a person of interest. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has opened a criminal investigation.

According to FOX59, IMPD told reporters the gunfire followed a disturbance between people who knew each other inside the residence. The outlet reported that the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition and that a person of interest was being held for questioning.
Victim's condition
As reported by WRTV, East District officers were dispatched to the 9000 block of E. 39th Place at about 4:19 p.m. and found a man with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. That report listed the victim in critical condition. WRTV said the investigation remains active and that police had not released additional details.
