A pre-dawn traffic stop in South Jordan turned deadly early Saturday when a fleeing vehicle slammed into another car on Mountain View Corridor in West Jordan, killing a child and injuring two adults, according to police.

According to FOX 13 News, the incident began when a South Jordan Police officer initiated a traffic stop, and the driver took off instead of pulling over. Around 4:00 a.m., the fleeing vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of Mountain View Corridor and Old Bingham Highway, West Jordan Police said.
The fleeing vehicle had two occupants, an adult and a child. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while the adult was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the other car was also taken to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
