A 40-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday evening in the Brighton Park neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side after someone walked up to the vehicle he was sitting in and opened fire. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead, according to authorities. Police said no arrests had been made and detectives are investigating the killing.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on the 3800 block of South California Avenue. The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds before being driven to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives continue to investigate the incident and there were no arrests at the time of the report.

The killing is the latest in a string of violent incidents that have rattled Brighton Park this year.
