A north-side Indianapolis neighborhood west of Hoover Road turned into a crime scene today after a person was shot and later died at a hospital, police said. Officers responded to reports of gunfire on Woodmere Circle, and the shooting has prompted a homicide investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
What police say
IMPD officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of Woodmere Circle in the Delaware Trails area, west of Hoover Road, according to WISH‑TV. Officers found a person on scene suffering from a gunshot wound, and IMPD initially reported the victim was "awake and breathing," the station reported. The person was taken to a hospital and later died. The department has not released any identifying details about the victim.
