Where This Fits In Indy
The shooting is part of a broader pattern that authorities say remains a major challenge for Marion County. The U.S. Attorney’s Strategic Plan for Project Safe Neighborhoods notes that homicides and nonfatal shootings in Marion County have hit all-time highs in recent years and calls for a coordinated response from federal, state and local agencies, according to the plan. Local reporting has also documented other recent gunfire on and around 10th Street, underscoring neighborhood concerns; see earlier 10th Street gunfire.
IMPD has not released the victim's name or any charging details. The investigation remains active, and this story will be updated as officials release more information.
