What should have been a routine pre-dawn delivery run in Aliquippa turned into a shooting scene early Saturday when someone opened fire on a driver and riddled the vehicle with bullets.
Troopers say the gunfire erupted around 4 a.m. on the 1000 block of Knoll Street, where investigators later counted at least three bullet strikes to the delivery vehicle. Authorities have not said whether the driver or anyone else was hurt, and no suspect name has been released.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed an active investigation and said troopers who rushed to the scene could not find the shooter, according to WTAE. The driver described the person who fired as a Black man wearing dark-colored clothing, the outlet reported. Troopers are asking anyone with information, or with security footage from the area, to contact investigators.
State police seek tips
The Pennsylvania State Police Troop D - Beaver County Criminal Investigation Unit is leading the case. Beaver County Radio notes that officials are asking anyone with information to call the PSP Beaver Criminal Investigation Unit at 724-773-7400, and that tips can also be submitted anonymously to Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers.
Recent incidents have rattled neighbors
Residents have already been on edge after several recent public-safety scares, including a late-night dog walk shooting that left a man wounded and a predawn house fire earlier this month. That string of incidents has neighbors unsettled and investigators urging anyone with doorbell or dash-cam video to come forward.
State police say the delivery-driver shooting investigation remains active as detectives canvass the neighborhood and review any available footage. Anyone with tips is asked to call the PSP Beaver Criminal Investigation Unit at 724-773-7400. Authorities caution residents not to confront anyone they suspect may be involved, and to pass information directly to investigators instead.
