
Kokomo police are investigating a deadly early-morning shooting after a 31-year-old man was found unconscious and unresponsive in the parking lot of the Great Escape at 2411 N. Washington St. Officers at the scene reported the man had injuries investigators believe were gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police Say Bar Fight Spilled Into Parking Lot Before Shooting
In a press release, the Kokomo Police Department said officers were called to break up a fight near the Great Escape and found the victim, identified as Braylen T. Johnson, 31, lying on the ground with injuries investigators suspect were gunshot wounds, according to FOX59. Johnson was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 2:07 a.m., the release said. The department noted it was assisted at the scene by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, the Indiana State Police and the Howard County Emergency Management Agency.

Kokomo has seen multiple shootings in recent months, including a double shooting earlier this year that left one person dead, underscoring ongoing worries about late-night violence in the city.
