
A late-night laundry run on Indianapolis' east side turned deadly early Tuesday when a man was shot during a robbery and later died at the hospital, according to police.
Officers were called just after 1 a.m. to a reported robbery and arrived to find the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
According to WIBC, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers received a report of a robbery around 1:11 a.m. at the Laundry & Tan Connection at 2202 N. Mitthoeffer Rd. While officers were on the way, they were told someone had been shot, and they arrived to find a person with gunshot wounds inside.

According to Laundry & Tan Connection, the Mitthoeffer Road storefront is one of the company’s Indianapolis locations at 2202 N. Mitthoeffer Rd. The chain operates multiple laundromats and tanning rooms around the city, making the east side shop a routine stop for nearby residents.
What police are asking
Police say witnesses reported that multiple people were involved in an altercation with the victim before the shooting. Detectives are canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance video and any additional eyewitnesses.
IMPD is asking anyone with information or footage to call the department at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477). The victim’s name has not yet been released. Investigators are urging the public to come forward with tips, according to WIBC.
