
A late-night argument in Marquette Park turned violent Sunday when a 39-year-old man was shot in the left leg on Chicago’s Southwest Side, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 10:43 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Redfield Drive. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
White sedan rolls up, argument escalates
According to Chicago police, a white sedan pulled up alongside the man, and a person got out of the car. Words were exchanged, the confrontation got physical, and the suspect fired a single shot that hit the victim in the left leg. The gunman then jumped back into the same vehicle and took off north on Sacramento Avenue. No arrests were immediately reported, according to FOX 32 Chicago.

Marquette Park’s troubled recent track record
The shooting adds to a rough recent track record for Marquette Park, which has seen multiple incidents of gun violence in the last few years. In 2023, a deadly shooting near Redfield Drive was reported in the same park, according to CBS Chicago.
