A lunchtime shooting on Indianapolis' west side left one person dead Monday, turning a stretch of Beachview Drive into an active homicide scene, authorities said.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 6100 block of Beachview Drive around 12:30 p.m. Medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. IMPD said the investigation was underway and released no additional details about what led up to the gunfire.

According to WRTV, officers found a person suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived, and that individual was pronounced deceased on scene. Police told the station they had no further information to share at this time. Homicide detectives remained on Beachview Drive into the afternoon as they took over the case, documenting the area and interviewing potential witnesses.
