After more than a year of construction curveballs, Tempest Artisan Coffee Bar is finally getting ready to caffeinate Brownsburg. The third‑wave shop is now aiming for a July opening at The Arbuckle, bringing in‑house roasting, canned lattes and a full cocktail program to the town’s growing retail strip, with indoor and outdoor seating and occasional live music in the mix, according to the owners.
Planning for Tempest kicked off in October 2024, and the team originally expected to open in fall 2025. That debut was pushed back by construction and development setbacks, Current Publishing reports. Co‑owner Park Leacock told the outlet he noticed “very few specialty coffee shops on the west side” and wanted to help fill that gap. Co‑owner Jonah Brooks added that “all of our coffees will be roasted in‑house,” noting he joined the project after helping open a cafe in Danville.
Site and timeline
Tempest currently lists the shop as “Coming 2026” at 7249 Arbuckle Commons in Brownsburg and invites locals to sign up for opening updates. The site also includes contact information and a brief outline of the shop’s third‑wave approach. That online listing lines up with municipal paperwork showing a tenant‑finish for the suite at the same address.
Menu and atmosphere
The tentative menu reads like a love letter to coffee nerds and brunch seekers, according to Current Publishing. Plans include Liege waffles, powdered teas, canned lattes produced on an in‑house canning machine and seasonal drinks such as an “iced citrus bar” iced latte. The owners are also assembling a cocktail menu with help from a bartender from the Nashville bar scene, and they say they expect to host occasional live music alongside indoor and outdoor seating.
Permits and the buildout
Brownsburg records list a tenant‑finish at 7249 Arbuckle Commons Suite B for Tempest, confirming the business’ spot in The Arbuckle retail complex; meeting materials are included in a Brownsburg Town Council agenda packet. State construction filings show a Tempest Coffee House project filed Aug. 12, 2025, with Park Leacock listed as owner and [email protected] as a contact. Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission local board schedules also list “Tempest Artisan Coffee Bar” on liquor application rosters, indicating the owners have pursued licensing to support the planned cocktail program.
Why the timing matters
Brownsburg’s retail expansion, including a newly opened Meijer supercenter and other recent development, has boosted foot traffic in the area and could make The Arbuckle a stronger landing spot for food and drink operators. Mega Meijer Supercenter coverage notes that new anchors have reshaped local shopping patterns. The owners say the west side remains underserved by specialty coffee and that Tempest is aiming to function more as a neighborhood destination than a quick grab‑and‑go stop.
Tempest has not announced a firm opening date beyond “next month.” Locals can sign up for updates at tempest.coffee or follow the shop’s Instagram account @tempestindiana for real‑time announcements. This story will be updated once the owners lock in an exact opening date.
