The crash happened around 6 p.m. in the 19600 block of Tomlinson Road, a stretch that runs alongside the Westfield Washington Schools administrative campus and Monon Trail Elementary. First responders initially requested a Lifeline helicopter but ultimately took the child by ambulance. He arrived at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in critical condition and died shortly after 5 a.m. yesterday.

As reported by WRTV, Westfield police said the crash occurred at the intersection of 196th Street and Tomlinson Road and that officers found the child suffering from life‑threatening injuries. The station also reports the driver remained at the scene and that there is no indication impairment was a factor. The department’s crash‑reconstruction team is handling the investigation.
Scene and response
A Westfield Police Department press release shared with You Are Current said officers and medics were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. and that Tomlinson Road was closed while crews processed the scene.
