A 38-year-old Anderson man is facing serious felony allegations after investigators say a child reported repeated sexual attacks spanning nearly three years. Andrew Harper was arrested this month as court proceedings move forward in Madison County.
According to court documents reviewed by FOX59, prosecutors filed two Level 1 felony counts of child molesting. The alleged abuse is described as occurring from approximately January 2022 through December 2024, with the child telling investigators that the first attack happened when the child was as young as 5 and continued until around age 8.
Child’s Disclosure Led To Anderson Investigation
The documents say the child eventually told a family member about the alleged attacks, and another family member later confronted Harper. Investigators said the allegations were reported to police after those disclosures, prompting a forensic interview in Anderson on July 9.
Anderson police obtained and executed a search warrant the next day at a home on Country Club Lane, where Harper allegedly lived. Officers arrested him on July 10 and transported him to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
The Madison County Jail record lists Harper’s booking on a Level 1 child-molesting charge and a sexual-battery charge under the same case number. The record says he posted a 10% bond on $100,000 and was released July 16.
What The Level 1 Felony Charges Mean
Indiana’s Level 1 felony sentencing range is 20 to 40 years, with a 30-year advisory sentence, according to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. Those penalties would apply only if Harper is convicted, and the allegations in the charging documents have not been proven in court.
A dispositional hearing is scheduled for October 9, 2026. FOX59 reported that the case remains pending in Madison County, with Harper presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
