Lucas Oil Stadium is about to get a whole lot louder. Organizers announced Thursday that Monster Jam World Finals XXVI will roll into downtown Indianapolis for a three-day run over the Fourth of July weekend in July 2027. The festival is set to bring the largest gathering of Monster Jam trucks and drivers the city has seen, with high-flying stunts, head-to-head racing and a festival-style Pit Party. The news follows Monster Jam’s return to Lucas Oil earlier this year, when a two-day stadium weekend drew thousands of fans.
When the engines fire up in 2027, Indianapolis will become the sixth city ever to host the World Finals. Organizers pointed to Lucas Oil Stadium’s downtown location, retractable roof and connection to the Indiana Convention Center as key reasons the city landed the event. Monster Jam Vice President Todd Jendro told local officials that “Lucas Oil Stadium offers the scale and energy needed for our sport’s biggest event.” As reported by Fox59, the finals will be staged over the Fourth of July weekend and are expected to draw fans from across the region.
What to expect at the finals
World Finals weekend is being framed as part championship showdown, part fan festival. The lineup will include a Pit Party where fans can meet drivers, get close-up views of the trucks and load up on photos, plus championship action in racing, freestyle, high jump and two-wheel skills. Monster Jam’s World Finals format typically opens with qualifying and skills on Thursday, followed by racing and freestyle brackets on Friday and Saturday, a structure the series says it plans to bring to Indianapolis. As outlined by Monster Jam, Pit Party admission is included with event tickets.
Why Lucas Oil
Officials are leaning on Lucas Oil Stadium’s downtown footprint and infrastructure as a major part of Indianapolis’ winning pitch. The venue sits at 500 S. Capitol Ave., ties directly into the Indiana Convention Center and is surrounded by hotels and transit that can handle big weekend crowds. The building can be configured for very large events and has seen past headline shows push capacity into the 70,000 range for special setups. See Lucas Oil Stadium for venue details.
Tickets and planning
Monster Jam told local media that tickets for the 2027 World Finals are expected to go on pre-sale in February, with more details to come from the series and the venue as the date gets closer. Fans looking at a holiday-weekend trip to Indy should plan for heavy downtown hotel demand and consider booking early. They can also sign up for Monster Jam alerts or monitor the event’s official ticket pages for presale codes and seat maps, as promoted by Monster Jam.
