Two people were found shot to death inside a Harvey residence Thursday morning, while two dogs were also discovered with gunshot wounds. One dog died, and the other was critically injured, adding another grim layer to an investigation that remains in its earliest hours.
Police were called to the home for a possible medical issue just before 7:30 a.m., according to NBC Chicago. When officers arrived near Vine Avenue and 150th Street, they found two people who had been shot; both were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and a representative of the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police Say There Is No Ongoing Public Threat
No suspects were in custody Thursday, and police said an investigation was underway. Harvey Mayor Shirley Drewenski said she was “heartbroken” by the loss of two lives and that, according to NBC Chicago, those responsible would be held accountable.
The killings follow another fatal shooting in Harvey earlier this month, when 20-year-old Keshawn Lewis-Hunt was killed at a house party and two other people were wounded, as Hoodline previously reported. Authorities have not indicated that the two cases are connected, and no motive or victim identities have been released in Thursday’s shooting.
