The National Weather Service Indianapolis office says the system could produce periods of heavy rain Friday night into Saturday, with the latest forecast calling for roughly 60% precipitation chances Friday night and 80% Saturday.
Storms Could Linger Through Saturday
Saturday looks like the roughest part of the forecast, with mostly cloudy skies, a high near 77 degrees, and showers and thunderstorms likely throughout the day. Rainfall totals of a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch are possible, while east winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
The forecast discussion also flags an excessive-rainfall threat for much of central Indiana from Friday night through Saturday, especially if storms repeatedly move over the same areas. No watches, warnings, or advisories are in effect for Indianapolis right now, but outdoor plans and low-lying roads may need a backup plan.
