Two people were hospitalized after a burst of late-night gunfire in East Oakland, according to police. Officers responded shortly after 11 PM yesterday to the area of Bancroft and 77th avenues in the Arroyo Viejo and Eastmont neighborhoods, where they found one person suffering from gunshot wounds. A short time later, officers located a second victim two blocks south on Parker Avenue. Both victims were taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition.
In a press statement, the Oakland Police Department said officers located a shooting scene on 77th Avenue near Bancroft, right by Arroyo Viejo Park, and recovered multiple bullet casings. The department reported no information yet on possible suspects or a motive. Investigators have not released further details on how the victims were struck, according to CBS Bay Area.
