At about 1:00 a.m. on July 25, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting that a cyclist had gone off the roadway in the 3000 block of Gold Run Road, just south of Gold Hill, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say five friends had gathered earlier at the Gold Hill Inn. Two left on bicycles while the remaining three followed in a vehicle. When one rider failed to appear, the lead cyclist doubled back and discovered a bicycle light roughly 50 feet down an embankment, where the victim was located.
