A 19-year-old Tullahoma motorcyclist died after police say he tried to pass between two semi-trailer trucks on I-65 South near Dickerson Pike in Nashville. Jason Bungarz-Kinney was taken to Skyline Medical Center after the crash and died overnight.
A preliminary account from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department says the collision happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday, while the trucks were traveling south in adjacent lanes. Police said Bungarz-Kinney was riding at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass between the trucks and struck the rear of one trailer.
Police Say Both Truck Drivers Stayed At The Scene
Both truck drivers stopped after the collision, and investigators found no signs of impairment involving either driver, according to the department. FOX 17 reported that Bungarz-Kinney was transported to Skyline Medical Center, where he later died.
The crash comes after a separate fatal collision involving two semis on I-65 north near the Vietnam Veterans Parkway split in April. In that case, a truck driver died after one tractor-trailer hit another and caught fire, as detailed in an earlier Hoodline report.

Police have not released a final reconstruction of Wednesday's crash, and the investigation remains underway. The preliminary findings describe the attempted maneuver and the impact, but additional details about the sequence of events have not been made public.
