Buzz & Brew, a new grab-and-go coffee counter from the team behind Redwood Grill, quietly slid into Woodside Plaza this June and is already pulling in a stream of morning regulars. The tiny spot took over an adjacent storefront next to the restaurant and keeps things tight and focused, serving a short lineup of espresso drinks, matcha, lemonades and pastries aimed at commuters and plaza denizens. Early visitors say the Honey Bee shaken espresso has been the early breakout favorite since the soft opening.
Menu, Prices And Hours
According to Buzz & Brew's menu, the counter sticks to the hits: signature shaken espressos, drip coffee, matcha drinks, lemonades and cold-brewed teas. The Honey Bee, a shaken espresso with honey, cinnamon and a touch of sea salt, is listed at $6.95, while the Mango Matcha comes in at $7.25. The site also posts daily hours, 7 AM to 3 PM, along with contact information.
The drink list pairs with a small pastry selection, and the shop leans into California orange-blossom honey in its signature sips, giving the sweet side of the menu a distinctly local accent.
From The Grill To The Counter
Owner and executive chef Johnny Arreola, who runs Redwood Grill next door, told Palo Alto Online that Buzz & Brew officially opened on June 3 and that running a takeaway coffee shop is a completely different experience from operating a restaurant.
Palo Alto Online also reports that the counter uses housemade syrups and local honey, and sources some of its espresso beans from Olympus Coffee in Antioch, which the outlet describes as having chocolate and caramel tasting notes. The shop’s decaf comes from South America, and Arreola’s team is already floating the idea of additional locations if this first outing catches on.
Neighborhood Fit And Next Steps
Buzz & Brew sits in the former Redwood Grill Market space, tucked right next door to Redwood Grill, which lists its Redwood City location on its website. The compact counter gives the Redwood Grill crew a daytime pickup option and a fresh reason for traffic to swing through the plaza outside of dinner hours.
For now, the focus is on keeping the morning rush humming along and seeing whether demand in Woodside Plaza is strong enough to justify growing the concept beyond this first coffee window.
