San Francisco’s 2026–27 theater calendar just got a lot more crowded: ATG San Francisco is adding nine touring musicals beyond its core subscription lineup, from The Wiz and Water for Elephants to Elf, Boop!, and a 20th-anniversary Jersey Boys tour. The specials stretch from November 2026 through May 2027, using both the Orpheum and Golden Gate theaters.
The lineup surfaced in an ATG San Francisco Facebook post yesterday. The announcement arrives as the presenter operates under the ATG San Francisco name, following a rebrand reported by BroadwayWorld, while its separate 2026–27 subscription season includes six Orpheum productions.
Holiday Season Brings Broadway Classics And Newer Hits
The special engagements begin with Waitress at the Orpheum from November 13–15, followed by Meredith Willson’s The Music Man from November 20–22. Water for Elephants then runs November 24–29, and the new touring production of The Wiz takes over the Orpheum December 4–6, according to ATG’s San Francisco event calendar.
December closes with Elf The Musical, scheduled for December 15–20 at the Golden Gate Theatre. The production is based on the hit holiday film and is billed as an all-new tour inspired by the 2024 Broadway staging, per ATG’s show page.
2027 Schedule Packs In Familiar Favorites
Jersey Boys arrives at the Golden Gate Theatre January 12–17, 2027, with the touring production marking the musical’s 20th anniversary. The show follows Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons through hits including “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” according to ATG’s listing.
Legally Blonde gets a quick Orpheum run January 23–24, bringing Elle Woods, Bruiser, and the musical’s aggressively pink brand of courtroom optimism to town. The show is based on the 2001 film and follows Woods from sorority life to Harvard Law, as detailed by ATG San Francisco.
The spring finale is a doubleheader of nostalgia and cartoon glamour: the touring The Sound of Music plays the Golden Gate Theatre May 21–23, followed immediately by Boop! at the Orpheum May 25–30. The former brings Maria and the von Trapp family back to the stage, while the latter turns Betty Boop’s black-and-white world into a new musical comedy, according to The Sound of Music’s official listing and ATG’s Boop! page.
