Indianapolis is starting Monday with clear skies, a cool 59 degrees and a brief patch of fog before the morning fully gets moving. The fog should fade by 9 a.m., making way for sunshine and a high near 77, with light west winds keeping the day notably calmer and less humid than a typical late-August scorcher.
For the commute, fog is most likely in low-lying spots and near waterways, where visibility can change quickly. The National Weather Service expects mostly sunny conditions after the fog mixes out, with west winds building only to 2 to 7 mph; no watches, warnings or advisories are in effect.
Clear Nights Keep Fog In The Mix
Monday night should stay mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 57 degrees before patchy fog develops after 2 a.m. Tuesday brings another round of early fog before 9 a.m., followed by mostly sunny skies and a high near 79. Winds will remain light from the northeast.
Storm Chances Arrive Wednesday Night
Wednesday stays partly sunny and warmer, with a high near 83 and only a small daytime rain chance. The main weather wrinkle arrives Wednesday evening, when showers and thunderstorms could develop between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., with a 30% chance of precipitation. A slight chance of showers or storms lingers early Thursday before skies turn mostly sunny and temperatures reach about 83.
Dry Stretch Returns For The Weekend
Friday looks sunny near 83 degrees, while Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high around 84. Sunday warms to about 86 with partly sunny skies, though a slight chance of morning showers remains after a potentially damp Saturday night. For now, the easiest outdoor windows appear to be Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
