Indianapolis is waking to clear skies and temperatures near 66 degrees Tuesday, but a brief foggy detour is still on the morning agenda. Patchy fog could trim visibility through about 8 or 9 a.m., then the clouds get out of the way for a sunny afternoon near 84.
Fog Fades Before A Sunny Afternoon
The National Weather Service expects fog to be most noticeable during the early commute, especially in spots where moisture settles near the ground. Once it lifts, winds will stay light from the east at around 2 mph, with temperatures reaching the low 80s by midday and peaking near 84 degrees.
Tuesday night should stay mostly clear, with a low around 63 degrees and only a light northeast breeze. There are no watches, warnings or advisories in effect for the Indianapolis area.
Wednesday Stays Quiet Before Storms Move In
Wednesday looks like the week's last easygoing weather day, with sunny skies, light west-southwest winds and a high near 86 degrees. The overnight low will be around 68, with a few more clouds arriving as the atmosphere begins to turn more humid.
Thursday And Friday Bring The Best Rain Chances
Scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop after 8 a.m. Thursday, with a 50% chance of rain during the day and a 60% chance Thursday night. Friday keeps scattered storms in the forecast with another 50% chance, although the outlook currently points to low odds for severe weather.
Saturday should be a partial improvement, with a slight 20% chance of showers or storms and a high near 85 degrees. Sunday looks mostly sunny and warmer near 87, while Monday could reach 88 with only a slight late-day storm chance.
What To Know For Outdoor Plans
Tuesday and Wednesday offer the best stretch for outdoor plans, once the morning fog burns off. Anyone heading out Thursday or Friday should keep an eye on the sky and allow flexibility for scattered downpours, while the weekend trends drier overall.
