More than 120 golfers are expected to trade the office for the fairway next Thursday, when Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis hosts its annual Fore the Kids fundraiser at Coffin Golf Club. The outing is designed to turn birdies, raffle tickets and friendly competition into after-school support for Indianapolis children.

The club lists a 9 a.m. start, while WISH-TV reports that golfers will tee off at 10 a.m. Registration remains open for hole sponsors, foursomes and individual golfers, with proceeds directed toward after-school care, academic assistance and enrichment activities.

According to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis event listing, the day will include awards, prizes, a raffle and a silent auction. The fundraising lineup supports programs ranging from physical fitness and arts activities to community impact projects and Power Hour, the organization’s homework-help program.

Indy Excavating & Utilities is presenting the outing, with company president Jason Long serving as its principal sponsor and donor, WISH-TV reported. Pam Lozano said the event brings people together for a cause that matters deeply, with the money raised flowing back into the children and neighborhoods served by the clubs.

The need reaches well beyond one day on the course. The organization says it served more than 7,300 young people at 10 sites across Indianapolis, offering academic enrichment, career preparation, sports, healthy-living programs, arts activities and mentorship.

Coffin Golf Course gives the fundraiser a distinctly Indianapolis setting, with an 18-hole, par-72 layout winding along the White River. Indy Parks describes the course as a challenging facility with tree-lined fairways, rolling terrain and water hazards on seven holes — plenty of opportunities for golfers to support the kids while blaming the scorecard on the layout.
