An Indianapolis woman accused of fighting Metro PCS workers inside a store allegedly returned three days later with a brick and attacked two of the same employees in a parking lot, according to newly filed charges. One worker suffered a concussion, while another said she believed the assault contributed to the miscarriage of her unborn child.
Jazmyne Sims was charged Thursday with two counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon and one count of battery resulting in moderate injury, FOX59 reported after reviewing court documents. An arrest warrant was issued Thursday, but Sims had not been taken into custody as of the report’s publication Friday.
The case began on August 27, 2025, when Sims visited a Metro PCS store on North Post Road seeking help with her computer, court documents say. Employees accused her of being confrontational and directing racial slurs at them, while Sims told police the workers beat her and dragged her from the store after she complained about poor service.
According to the account detailed by FOX59, the workers and Sims became involved in a fight near the store. The employees told police they believed Sims was the aggressor, but the documents do not resolve the competing accounts of that first confrontation.
Three days later, on August 30, the two workers said a black SUV pulled into the Metro PCS parking lot and masked attackers ambushed them. One victim said a masked man used a black metal baton, while Sims allegedly attacked both women with a brick.
Police later retrieved surveillance footage from the parking lot and traced the SUV to Sims, court documents say. Investigators searched the vehicle and found a tire iron and a broken brick, while Sims allegedly refused repeated requests to speak with detectives; one victim later identified her in a photo lineup.
Charges Arrived Nearly A Year After The Alleged Attacks
The alleged assaults occurred in August 2025, but the charges were filed July 30, 2026. The court documents do not explain why the case took many months to reach the charging stage, leaving Thursday’s warrant as the first major public development in the case since the investigation began.
The charges remain allegations, and Sims is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. A court will ultimately have to weigh the surveillance footage, witness accounts, physical evidence and Sims’ reported claim that the Metro PCS workers attacked her first.
What The Indiana Charges Could Mean
Battery with a deadly weapon is charged as a Level 5 felony in Indiana, while battery resulting in moderate bodily injury is a Level 6 felony under the state’s battery statute. Indiana’s sentencing provisions allow one to six years for a Level 5 felony and six months to two and a half years for a Level 6 felony, though those ranges are not a prediction of what sentence Sims would receive if convicted, according to the Indiana sentencing code.
