Showers and thunderstorms are expected to build after late morning, with the city reaching about 90 degrees and feeling closer to 105. The heaviest storms could bring sudden downpours and pockets of street flooding.
The National Weather Service in Miami said scattered to numerous storms will develop across the east coast metro area and interior South Florida on Monday. Slow-moving storms and high rainfall rates could create localized flooding, especially in urban areas and places with poor drainage, while south winds hold near 7 to 10 mph.
Storms Strengthen Through The Afternoon
Rain chances remain relatively low through midday before increasing during the afternoon. The hourly forecast puts the chance of showers and thunderstorms near 36% by 2 p.m., rising to about 55% by 5 p.m., with storms still likely before midnight.
Tuesday will bring a similar setup, with a high near 89, a heat index up to 105 and a 50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service said storms may again move slowly, keeping localized flooding concerns in place across the east coast metro area.
Rain Chances Continue Into The Weekend
Storm chances remain part of the forecast through Sunday, even as the focus shifts later in the week. Wednesday brings an 88-degree high with a 50% rain chance, while Thursday and Friday could see stronger easterly winds near 15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
Highs should stay in the upper 80s to around 90 through the weekend, with overnight lows mostly between 81 and 82 degrees. No watches, warnings or advisories were listed for the area, but residents should head indoors during thunder and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
