Saturday Starts Clear Before The Heat Takes Over
A few showers and thunderstorms may move through before 10 a.m., with a 20% chance of rain. After that, skies should turn sunny as temperatures rise toward 90 degrees, with southeast winds running 9 to 13 mph.
The advisory runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, when the combination of heat and humidity could push feels-like temperatures between 105 and 110 degrees. The National Weather Service Miami recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air conditioning or shade, and checking on relatives and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to heat illness.
Beachgoers Face Heat And Rip Current Risk
East and southeast winds will also raise the rip current risk along Atlantic beaches to moderate levels Saturday. Anyone heading into the water should stay near lifeguards, avoid swimming alone and take a break from the sun before the heat becomes overwhelming.
More Heat Is Ahead Next Week
Saturday night will remain muggy, with a low around 84 degrees and heat index values still reaching about 103. Sunday should be mostly sunny with a high near 91 and a feels-like temperature around 106, while only a few storms are expected over inland areas.
The heat continues Monday through Wednesday, with highs around 92 to 93 degrees and mostly sunny skies. Rain chances increase later in the week, reaching about 30% Thursday and Friday as afternoon showers and thunderstorms become more likely.
