According to a report published today by IndyStar reporter Kyle Neddenriep, the boys' showcase falls on Dec. 5, one of two Sneakers for Santa events at Brownsburg this season alongside a girls' showcase on Nov. 21. Per Brownsburg High School Athletics, the same gym serves as the single-site host for both showcases.
Pike's Seven-Footer Anchors the 8:15 p.m. Finale
Hill, who stands seven feet tall, averaged 12.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.6 blocks per game as a junior before committing to Purdue in May over offers from Louisville and Florida State, according to Southern Sports Today. The outlet notes Hill is the highest-rated center to choose Purdue since two-time national Player of the Year Zach Edey. Pike went 23-4 last season, won a sectional title, and is viewed as a projected top Class 4A team entering the winter, per the same IndyStar report.
Lakota West enters the finale off a 25-2 season, but the program will be without four-star guard Josh Tyson, a top-60 ranked player in his class who transferred to La Lumiere, IndyStar reports.
Two Recent State Champions Tip Off the Day
The showcase opens at 10 a.m. with Indianapolis Cathedral, the reigning Class 3A state champion, facing Gibson Southern. Cathedral, coached by Jason Delaney, beat New Haven 71-61 in March to finish 25-5 and claim the program's third state title, according to IBCA. The Fighting Irish lost leading scorers Keaton Aldridge and Julien Smith to graduation but return seniors Braylon Pippins and Skylar Rodgers, per IndyStar.
Gibson Southern went 17-7 a year ago and returns a trio of scorers in Reece Runyan (13.0 points per game), Kolton Schmitt (14.7 points, 5.5 rebounds per game) and Knoxx Lamb (9.1 points per game), the same report notes.
Fishers Breaks In a New Coach After a Gutting Sectional Exit
Fishers arrives under first-year head coach Miles Wayer, hired in April after he spent the 2025-26 season leading Greenfield-Central, according to Larry in Fishers. Wayer previously worked as a Fishers assistant before that head coaching stint. The Tigers are coming off a 50-49 sectional loss to Carmel in 2026, a stumble that followed a 29-1 Class 4A championship season in 2024 and a 30-1 runner-up finish in 2025, for a combined 59-2 mark, per MaxPreps.
Fishers, which went 24-1 last season and is considered a projected top Class 4A team, returns seniors Jason Gardner Jr. and Cooper Zachary for the 11:30 a.m. matchup against Houston of Germantown, Tennessee, according to IndyStar. The Mustangs, who won a state championship in 2021, went 19-9 last year and bring back 6-foot-7 senior Jordan Myles and 5-foot-11 senior Justin Frison.
Afternoon Games Pit Champions Against Ranked Regional Foes
South Bend Riley, coached by Alex Daniel and fresh off a 21-5 season, meets Liberty Christian at 1 p.m. Riley returns Kelin Webster (8.2 points per game) and Da'Kori Parker (13.3 points, 3.6 assists per game), while Liberty Christian arrives as a Class 1A regional champion led by Kendrick Martin, who averaged 17.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, according to IndyStar.
The 2:30 p.m. game brings South Bend St. Joseph, the 2025 Class 3A state champion, up against Silver Creek. St. Joseph beat Indianapolis Crispus Attucks 56-52 in last year's final to finish 27-3 and has since moved up to Class 4A, per IBCA. The Indians also won a Class 4A sectional title behind a 21-5 record, and return Elijah King (19.1 points per game) and Peyton Miamba (13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds per game). Silver Creek, ranked No. 1 for nearly all of last season according to IndyStar, brings back senior point guard Brandon Hunter (12.0 points, 10.5 assists per game) and Lucas Linderman (5.4 points per game).
Evening Slate Adds Georgia Power and a Toledo Commit
Georgia power Tri Cities visits at 4:45 p.m. to face host Brownsburg. Tri Cities has won Georgia state championships in 2019, 2022 and 2025, according to IndyStar. Brownsburg, which finished 15-10 last season, returns Brandon Day (5.2 points per game), Chase Wilson (6.2 points per game) and Jackson Gordon (5.1 points per game).
The night's second-to-last game, at 6:30 p.m., matches New Albany against Carmel. New Albany came one game short of a Class 4A state finals appearance last year while going 23-6, and Carmel, which won a sectional title, finished 18-6, per the same IndyStar report. The day's broader talent pool also includes Toledo commit Bryce Curry, a 6-foot-4 senior guard, and Tre Keith, a top-75 national recruit fielding offers from Cincinnati, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Xavier and Tennessee.
Indiana's Class 4A landscape looks different entering this event: Mt. Vernon of Fortville rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Crown Point 52-50 in March, capturing the program's first boys basketball state championship, IBCA's records show. That shakeup reshuffles the pecking order among the Class 4A programs, including Fishers and Carmel, gathering at Brownsburg this December.
Statewide Broadcast and a Charitable Mission Behind the Name
Fans who can't make it to Brownsburg can watch the full day of games on the ISC Sports Network, which streams the showcase on cable affiliates and mobile devices and has covered the event for six consecutive seasons through 2025.
The event's name comes from its charitable mission: participating athletic departments hold community shoe drives, asking fans and teams to donate new or gently used athletic footwear to benefit organizations like Samaritan's Feet and local youth programs during the holidays, according to South Bend Washington Athletics.
The showcase has produced signature performances before. At the December 2024 edition, Greenfield-Central guard Braylon Mullins scored 41 points — including 25 in the second half — shooting 13-of-18 from the field to lead a 57-52 win over Ben Davis at Brownsburg, according to The Daily Reporter. The performance pushed Mullins into his school's top five all-time scorers, the paper reported.
