A person died after a train incident just after midnight Sunday along Lake Avenue in Lake Worth Beach, sending Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews to the scene as the sheriff’s office opened an investigation.
According to WPBF, firefighters found one person dead at the scene. The initial report did not identify the person or provide details about what led to the incident.
A Separate Fatal Rail Incident Hit Lake Worth Beach Days Earlier
The death follows a separate fatal train crash in Lake Worth Beach on July 24. WFLX reported that 38-year-old Ulisses Aponte was struck by a Tri-Rail train while riding a bicycle near a railroad crossing; investigators said crossing gates, warning lights, bells and train horns were active.
That earlier incident occurred near the Lake Worth Beach Tri-Rail station on Lake Worth Road, rather than the Lake Avenue location identified in Sunday’s report. Hoodline previously reported that the July 24 death caused service disruptions while investigators worked the scene.
The WPBF report said the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Sunday’s incident. Further details, including the identity of the deceased person and the circumstances surrounding the train incident, were not immediately available.
