West-northwest winds will stay fairly light at 3 to 9 mph. By afternoon, clouds may break enough for some sunshine, while temperatures settle closer to 80 degrees, making outdoor plans more workable after the wet start.

Fog Returns Overnight, Then Tuesday Cleans Up

Wednesday Brings The Week’s Biggest Weather Concern

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives late Tuesday night before storms become likely Wednesday. The forecast calls for a 60% chance of rain Wednesday, with a mostly cloudy sky and a high near 81 degrees.

The National Weather Service says heavy rain and strong storms could return, with damaging winds the main concern and some flash-flood potential because the ground remains saturated. Anyone with outdoor plans should check updated forecasts Wednesday and avoid flooded roadways if heavier rain develops.

Cooler And Drier By Late Week

Rain chances ease Thursday, when Indianapolis should see a partly sunny high near 78 degrees and only a slight chance of showers or a thunderstorm. Friday looks mostly sunny near 79 degrees, followed by another slight storm chance Saturday afternoon.

Sunday rounds out the period with mostly sunny skies and a high near 77 degrees. Overnight lows settle mostly in the low 60s, giving the city a noticeably cooler and quieter finish to the week.
