A 6-year-old girl is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in West Haven. A responding deputy began CPR, and the girl was taken to a local hospital as her family was notified of her condition.
According to the Weber County Sheriff's Office, the deputy who arrived first on scene spotted the injured child and rendered emergency medical aid, including CPR. The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, the sheriff's office said. KSL.com also reported that the girl was critically injured in the West Haven crash.
Specialized Crash Team Called In
The sheriff's office and the Weber Metro C.R.A.S.H. Team are handling the ongoing investigation, and officials say no additional information will be released at this time due to both the active probe and the child's privacy.
This is not the first time a young child has been struck by a vehicle on West Haven's residential streets this year. In February, a 5-year-old boy named Grayson Lowe suffered broken leg bones after being hit by an SUV near 1675 West in a hit-and-run crash, according to the same KSL.com report on the earlier incident. That case remains a reminder of the risks facing young pedestrians in the fast-growing suburb.
The crash also arrives amid sobering statewide numbers on pedestrian and child safety. The Utah Department of Public Safety recorded 35 pedestrian deaths and 976 pedestrian-involved crashes statewide in 2025, KSL.com reported in December. Preliminary state data released in January had shown Utah's overall traffic fatalities falling to a six-year low of 264 in 2025, down from 277 the year before, even as teen traffic fatalities nearly doubled statewide from 18 to 31, per the Utah Department of Transportation.
