A new bakery-cafe concept called Bakehouse Cafe and Kitchen has filed paperwork to open inside Northlake Gardens, a retail plaza along one of northern Palm Beach County's busiest commercial corridors. The business, owned by Chad Reeves, is set up in Suite 13 at 3335 Northlake Boulevard, a 3,200-square-foot end-cap space with patio seating that was delivered new in the summer of 2023.
According to whatnow.com, Bakehouse Cafe and Kitchen filed with Florida's Department of Business & Professional Regulation and appears to be one of the first businesses to occupy Suite 13 since it was built. The end-cap unit includes monument signage visible from both Northlake Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard, giving the new cafe a prominent perch in a plaza that already houses a mix of restaurants and neighborhood businesses, including Rama V Thai and Sushi Express and Bagels With Deli, per the same report.
A Plaza Built for Heavy Traffic
Northlake Gardens sits directly across Northlake Boulevard from a top-performing Costco, and brokers have marketed the surrounding hub as the “Southern Gateway to the City of Palm Beach Gardens,” according to a Deziel & Company report. Combined traffic counts at the hard-corner intersection surrounding the plaza reach up to 70,000 average daily vehicles — the kind of steady commuter flow that tends to favor breakfast and lunch concepts, the report notes.
Northlake Boulevard itself connects Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach and the coast, functioning as a major east-west corridor that draws both local residents and commuter traffic throughout the day, whatnow.com reports.
Room to Grow, on the Road and in the Plaza
The plaza operates in a dense retail environment near power centers like Northlake Commons, whose anchor stores include 2nd Swing and Ross Dress for Less. Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, Publix and Kohl's are among the major retailers in the surrounding corridor, per DLC Management Corp.
A proposed widening of western segments of Northlake Boulevard was the subject of a 2023 hearing, and the planning commission made a recommendation on the project in 2026.
Part of a Broader Dining Boom
Florida food businesses are regulated by several agencies, including DBPR, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Department of Health, per Ask IFAS. That state filing is what first put the new cafe on the radar, ahead of any confirmed opening date.
The new cafe joins a wave of food and beverage investment reshaping the Northlake corridor. H&H Bagels has opened nearby, while Tenka Sushi has been announced as a tenant. A nearby plaza is anchored by a newly built 49,000-square-foot Publix.
