A man was pronounced dead early Saturday after the black sedan he was driving slammed into a light pole near a CTA bus stop in Beverly. Police say officers responded just before 2:30 a.m. to the 1700 block of West 95th Street, where they found the driver unresponsive behind the wheel.
According to ABC7 Chicago, the sedan crashed into the pole near South Vanderpoel Avenue, and the Chicago Fire Department treated the man at the scene before he was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Chicago police said one person died in the crash near the CTA bus stop, and the department's Major Accidents Unit is now investigating. Authorities have not released the man's name or provided additional details about what led up to the crash.

A replacement Engine Company 121 facility at 1724 West 95th Street is a $9.3 million LEED-certified station, according to the Public Building Commission of Chicago.
