The National Weather Service Indianapolis office says a Flood Watch for central Indiana was listed as lasting until 10 a.m. EDT Friday, September 18, 2026. Forecasters say heavy rain cannot be ruled out in parts of the region, raising the risk for flooded streets, creeks and other flood-prone spots.
Friday Dries Out, But The Weekend Gets Stormy
Rain chances fall sharply after the morning, with ceilings and a southward-moving front in the forecast, while threatening clouds remain possible Friday evening. Saturday turns warmer, reaching near 85, but showers and thunderstorms become likely from around midday into the evening.
Sunday brings additional storm chances, while precipitation chances continue through the weekend. Rain and storms remain possible into Monday, and isolated severe storms Saturday could bring damaging winds.
Cooler, Wetter Pattern Arrives Monday
Monday remains part of a cooler, unsettled pattern, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s north to mid-80s south. Midweek may stay dry under high pressure, with highs in the 70s.
By Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures should remain seasonable, with highs in the 70s to lower 80s. For Friday morning, drivers should allow extra time around ponding-prone roads and avoid crossing water if heavy rain develops.
