Storm Chances Rise Through The Afternoon
The best chance for storms arrives from the afternoon into early evening, with hourly rain chances reaching roughly 50% to 60% between 2 and 5 p.m. The National Weather Service expects rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches across Miami-Dade and Broward, with localized totals of 3 to 4 inches possible from slow-moving or training cells.
That raises the risk of street flooding, especially in urban areas and places with poor drainage. Stronger cells may also bring frequent lightning, brief heavy downpours and localized gusty winds, so outdoor plans could require a quick retreat indoors.
Monday Looks Even Wetter
Sunday night will stay warm and muggy, with a low near 80 and a 35% chance of additional showers and thunderstorms. Monday brings another high near 89, a heat index up to 106 and an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with intermittent storms that could linger into early evening.
Rain Chances Ease Later In The Week
Storm coverage remains elevated Tuesday, when Miami could reach the lower 90s with rain chances above 60%. By Wednesday, the pattern trends closer to a typical late-summer setup, with highs near 89 and rain chances around 30%, followed by highs generally in the lower 90s and convective coverage closer to average Thursday through Saturday.
Heat Safety Still Matters
There are no active weather alerts listed for the Miami area, but the combination of high humidity and afternoon heat can still be dangerous. Miami-Dade County recommends drinking plenty of water and taking breaks in air conditioning or at a designated cooling site, especially for older adults, children and anyone working outside.
