Storms may begin near the coast and become more numerous inland, bringing brief heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds.
The updated forecast is somewhat less wet for Saturday than Hoodline's Friday forecast, but the larger pattern remains unsettled. Beach trips, park visits and outdoor events should have an indoor backup as storms become more likely through the afternoon.
Sunday Looks Wetter Across Miami
Sunday is expected to bring scattered thunderstorms, with afternoon convection. Heavy rain, lightning and sudden wind gusts could make outdoor plans difficult, even when sunshine breaks through between storms.
Sunday night brings lingering moisture into the workweek. Monday remains hot near 89 degrees, with a 40% chance of rain.
Storm Chances Stay Elevated Next Week
Rain chances are lower early to middle next week, then elevated Thursday and Friday as the unsettled pattern continues. Highs should remain close to 89 degrees, while overnight lows mostly stay in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Stronger northeasterly winds are forecast to begin Tuesday. Nearshore showers, lightning and gusty winds may occur when thunderstorms move through.
Heat And Lightning Still Matter
The combination of heat and storms still calls for caution. Drink water, take breaks from direct sun and move indoors as soon as thunder is heard; a brief shower is not a safe place to wait out lightning.
